'Jellyfish' Birmingham Bollards...
These bollards were found in Birmingham by the @wilsondan on the twitter, what a find. They are cylindrical in shape with a ribbed body coloured pea green and capped off beautifully with a dark crimson red near 'jellyfish' like top.
The brick paved area surrounding the bollards is pretty modern but these two bollards in my opinion must have a tale to tell for they look beautiful and have a certain level of craftsmanship about them (I could be wrong).

Yes, interesting bollards. I snapped then immediately I saw them, for inclusion on this blog.
ReplyDeleteI can cast a little light. But not much. I spotted them in Birmingham, south of the much updated Bullring centre but in the slightly shabby Chinatown area.
There are more than these two and they are reasonably modern, I think. My theory is, and this is by no means certain, that they are supposed to represent Chinese buildings and colours. I saw at least a few dozen in the area during my stay.
I think they may be an optimisitic, quite recent attempt to mark out Birmingham's not terribly vibrant or attractive Chinese quarter.
